Bharat Forge (BFL) has bagged a Rs 1,661.9 crore contract from the Indian Ministry of Defence for supplying 255,128 CQB Carbines (5.56 x 45 mm) to the Indian Army.
The contract, signed on 30 December, 2025, mandates the completion of the order within five years. The CQB Carbine is an indigenously designed, developed, and manufactured (IDDM) compact firearm created in collaboration between the Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE), DRDO, and Bharat Forge Ltd., Pune. This contract highlights BFL's commitment to the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, aiming to provide the Indian Armed Forces with advanced, "Made in India" defence equipment.
BFL, alongside its defence subsidiary, Kalyani Strategic Systems (KSSL), continues to support the nation's self-reliance in defence technology by focusing on indigenous development.
