Under Bihar’s newly unveiled IT Policy, 2024, major companies Bharti Airtel, data centre firm CtrlS, and PC manufacturer Holoware have proposed substantial investments. Speaking at the Bihar Business Connect 2024, IT Secretary Abhay Kumar highlighted that Airtel and CtrlS have received Stage-1 clearance and are preparing financial proposals, signaling imminent investments.
Holoware, based in Chennai, has committed to manufacturing IT hardware in Bihar, with an approved proposal of Rs 30 crore and plans to invest Rs 300 crore in setting up a laptop manufacturing facility. He emphasised the policy’s lucrative incentives, noting that, "We are trying to create small IT cities.”
The policy also provides a 50 percent subsidy on lease rental expenses for five years, with an annual increment of Rs 2.5 per sq. ft. The state government intends to leverage these investments to position Bihar as a leading IT hub.
As informed by Bihar Special Secretary for IT Arvind Kumar Choudhary, after the announcement of the policy, the state has received total investment proposals of over Rs 4,000 crore in the last 11 months.
