Technology firm Cisco will commence manufacturing operations in India as a step towards creating a far more diverse and resilient global supply chain, and support India to achieve its vision of becoming a global manufacturing hub.
The manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu would enable the employment generation for 1,200 persons. The company has set a milestone of achieving USD one billion in combined domestic production and exports in the 'coming years', as it operates through partners and contract manufacturers.
Tamil Nadu Industries Minister Thangam Thenarasu has stated that the state will support Cisco in the venture, which seeks to leverage the market potential.
