Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd has secured a Rs.241
crore order for setting up the electro-mechanical component of North Eastern
Electric Power Corporation's 600 MW Kameng hydropower project. The order is to
be executed within 54 months.
BHEL's scope of work includes design,
manufacturing, supply, installation and commissioning of the electro-mechanical
works for the project located at the confluence of rivers Bichom and Kameng.
BHEL's electronics division will supply controls
for the project while the Bhopal plant will manufacture turbines, generators and
main inlet valves. The Power Sector (Eastern Region) will erect and commission
the project.
According to BHEL, it has maintained a 100 per
share in NEEPCO's installed capacity of 780 MW through 14 hydro generating sets.
BHEL has so far supplied more than 385 generating
sets with a cumulative capacity of 16,275 MW to various utilities in India and
abroad. Its global share is 35 hydro sets worth 1,409 MW to various countries
like Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, New Zealand, Azerbaijan and Bhutan.
