Construction at the Bilimora High-Speed Rail (HSR) Station is nearing completion, marking a significant milestone in India’s first bullet train corridor—Mumbai to Ahmedabad.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw visited the site, and expressed satisfaction with the construction pace and quality. Civil works are largely done, with track laying progressing rapidly. The National High-Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) is using rail laying cars (RLCs) to install 200-mtrs. welded rail panels, improving efficiency and reducing manual labor. Advanced surveying techniques like Reference Pin Survey and Regression Analysis ensure precise track alignment for trains running at 320 km/h.
Designed for operational efficiency, the station features two loop lines to facilitate overtaking during peak hours. Strategically located in Kesali village near the Ambika River, it spans over 38,000 sq. mtrs. with a dual-level layout for smooth passenger movement. As part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Corridor, the station is expected to see its first service operate between Surat and Bilimora in 2027.
Modern amenities include lounges, escalators, retail spaces, and accessible features for all. Its architecture reflects local culture, integrating mango orchard-inspired facades and sustainable elements like rainwater harvesting, EV parking, and low-VOC materials. The station is IGBC-certified for its green design and energy-efficient features.
