At BioAsia 2025 in Hyderabad, investment commitments of Rs 5,445 crore were announced for Green Pharma City, along with strategic partnerships to bolster Telangana’s life sciences sector.
Eleven companies, including Granules, Orbicular, Aizant, Biological E, Virchow, and Bharat Biotech, pledged investments which will generate employment for 9,800 people. This adds to the six companies which previously committed, bringing the total to Rs 11,100 crore and employment opportunities for over 22,300 people. The Telangana government welcomed global pharma major MSD, which is setting up its fifth tech centre globally.
US-based Agilisium is investing in a Life Sciences and Innovation and Talent Development Lab in Hyderabad. ALS, a global leader in testing and certification, is launching a biopharma cGMP testing lab in Genome Valley, while Meishi Pharma is establishing a second R&D centre under its new Indian subsidiary. “The decision aligns with our commitment to innovation and leveraging advanced technologies to enhance our operations and improve patient outcomes,” an MSD spokesperson stated.
The University of Queensland and Telangana Life Sciences signed a letter of intent to collaborate on research, digital healthcare, and AI-driven innovations. The World Economic Forum’s Indian Digital Health Activator has chosen Telangana as its first hub, aiming to bridge gaps in the digital health ecosystem.
