Blue Energy Motors has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government to establish a new truck manufacturing facility with an investment of Rs 3,500 crore.
The plant, which will be located in Pune, will have the capacity to produce 30,000 electric and LNG-powered heavy-duty trucks over the next five years. The company also launched its first heavy-duty electric truck featuring swappable battery technology and inaugurated India’s first electric highway corridor between Mumbai and Pune. The initiative aligns with Blue Energy's broader goal of electrifying all major national highway corridors within three years.
Blue Energy, backed by Essar and FPT (Iveco Group), currently operates a manufacturing facility in Chakan with a 10,000- unit annual capacity. The company claims a 60 percent share in the green truck market, with over 1,000 LNG trucks already on the road. This expansion strengthens India’s push for sustainable, selfreliant industrial growth.
