Electrification in the automotive sector is gaining momentum, particularly in two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and buses, while the small commercial vehicle segment is also seeing early adoption.
Traditional OEMs have been slow to enter this space, but new-age players like IPL Tech Electric and Coimbatore-based Propel Industries are making significant strides. Propel Industries, a part of the 30-year-old AV Group, has focused on electric heavy mining trucks and is now expanding its product range.
The company, known for its expertise in crushing, screening, and washing solutions for the mining sector, entered the electric mobility market two years ago with 45-tonne and 60-tonne mining trucks. It has since added 70-tonne and 90-tonne variants, as well as electric tractor-trailers. "We are leveraging our experience in mining to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles," said a company spokesperson.
