Industries in Butibori have started receiving piped natural gas as GAIL’s Mumbai–Nagpur pipeline along the Samruddhi Expressway became operational from 28 December, 2025.
Haryana City Gas Distribution, which holds the eight-year contract for Nagpur district, has begun supply to industrial units, with domestic PNG connections in the CIDCO colony set to follow. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated GAIL’s city gas station and mother station, marking a key milestone in the region’s energy infrastructure. According to HCG Nagpur President Deepak Sawant, “the immediate plan after that is to get the piped natural gas connection for domestic cooking usage to the residents of CIDCO Colony.” The PNG network will later expand to areas such as Jamtha, Wanadongri, Hingna, Kapsi, Wadi and Ambazari.
Industrial supply currently stands at 80,000 SCM and is expected to rise to one lakh SCM by March, while domestic connections could reach around one lakh across the district.
