The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has given approval to construct a new railway line between Sahjanwa and Dohrighat of 81.17 km in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 1,319.75 crore. The project will be executed by the Construction Organisation of North Eastern Railway and completed by 2023-24.
Alignment from Sahjanwa to Dohrighat lies mostly in Gorakhpur district and a small area in Mau district. Indara-Dohrighat gauge conversion has already been sanctioned and the approval for new line will complete the missing link and provide an alternate route avoiding Gorakhpur.
The proposed project will provide railway facility to people in the region and help in growth of small-scale industries in the area. The project will also generate direct employment during construction for around 19.48 lakh man days.
