The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA)
on 5 July 2005 approved two major expansion plans of South Eastern Coalfields
Ltd (SECL) involving a capital investment of Rs.2,936 crore and completion cost
of Rs.3,360 crore.
The committee has approved the Gevra opencast
expansion project with a capital investment of Rs.1667 crore and completion cost
of Rs 1,898 crore. The project will produce 25 million tonnes of F-grade coal a
year.
The committee also approved the expansion of
Dipka opencast expansion project of SECL.
The project seeks to double coal output to 20
million tonnes involving a capital investment of Rs.1,268.53 crore and
completion cost of Rs 1,461.80 crore.
