CG Foods, makers of Wai Wai instant noodle, has announced manufacturing and selling of pre-packaged sauces. The company will launch these sauces within a year.
The company has been testing out a multiple product strategy to diversify beyond its instant noodle range and will be rolling out a series of products across different food and beverage categories in coming months.
The company had earlier announced capacity expansion in its India noodles business with an investment of Rs 120 crore in 2020. The expansion commissioned to be effective from August 2020 will enable the plant to reach the capacity of Rs 1,550 crore.
The pandemic has resulted in major changes in the business ecosystem and consumer behaviour due to which the company has restructured its approach to be in better sync with the changing market dynamics.
It is also planning to launch an entire range which will not restrict itself to instant noodles. The production of the sauces will be through an original equipment manufacturing (OEM) company route and manufactured in India and rolled out for sale here and for its global market as well.
The next plant in its expansion pipeline is Guwahati, Assam,is to commence by March 2021, followed by Ajmer, Rajasthan, in June 2021 and Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh by September 2021.
