A guava processing plant will be set up in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, at a cost of Rs 150 crore to enhance farmers’ livelihoods through value addition and agricultural innovations.
The plant is expected to boost the demand for guava and its products in both domestic and international markets. The announcement was made during the first-ever Guava Festival in Sawai Madhopur on January 18, 2026, with the participation of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and State Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal Meena. Rajasthan has 14,000 hectares of guava orchards, with 11,000 hectares in Sawai Madhopur alone. The Minister mentioned that guava farmers currently earn Rs 600 crore to Rs 700 crore annually, The government’s target is to increase this to Rs 1,600 crore.
The processing plant is a crucial step, as farmers currently travel to distant cities like Delhi and Vadodara to sell their produce. The plant will provide a more lucrative market closer to home.
