The Jammu and Kashmir Horticulture Produce Marketing Corporation (JKHPMC) has signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with Sarveshwar Foods to develop Basmati rice clusters in the districts of Jammu, Samba, and Kathua.
This project will be executed by a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sarveshwar Foods, Himalayan Ancient Foods , formed specifically for the initiative. The aim is to ensure effective governance, execution, and monitoring. The agreement was signed by Mohammad Farooq Dar, Managing Director of JKHPMC, and Dr. Gayatri Tandon, Project Head at Sarveshwar Foods. During the event, Mohammad Farooq Dar, Mission Director of the HADP, stressed the importance of cluster-based agricultural development and technology-driven interventions for sustainable growth in agriculture.
The project will impact 7,500 farmers and cover 12,000 hectares of agricultural land. It focuses on improving productivity, quality, market access, and ultimately, income for Basmati rice growers through modern farming techniques and better price realisation.
