Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on 27 January, 2026, laid the foundation for a super-speciality children’s hospital and research centre in Guindy, Chennai.
The 750-bed facility, located on the King Institute campus, is set to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 417 crore. The 6.5-acre building will span six floors and will feature various medical specialties, in addition to a Centre for Excellence. Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Health Minister Ma. Subramanian, South Chennai MP Thamizhachi Thangapandian, and other dignitaries such as Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam were present during the groundbreaking ceremony.
The facility will be affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical UniversityThe hospital is expected to provide advanced healthcare for children, enhancing the state’s medical infrastructure and research capabilities.
