The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given approval to establish the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Manethi in Rewari district, Haryana.
The project will see an investment to the tune of Rs 1,299 crore. The construction is fully funded by the Central government. Also, the operation and maintenance expenses will be fully borne by the Centre. The recurring cost of the project will be met through Grant-in-Aid from plan budget head of PMSSY of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The project involves setting up hospital, teaching block for medical and nursing courses, residential complex and allied facilities/services on the pattern of AIIMS, New Delhi and other six new AIIMS taken up under Phase-I of PMSSY.
The upcoming institution will have a hospital with a capacity of 750 beds. It will include emergency/trauma beds, AYUSH beds, private beds and ICU Speciality and Super Speciality beds.
Moreover, it will have medical college, AYUSH block, auditorium, night shelter, guest house, hostels and residential facilities. It will also have 15-20 Super Specialty Departments.
The new AIIMS will consist of 100 UG (MBBS) seats and 60 B Sc (Nursing) seats.
The upcoming institute will create employment opportunities for around 3,000 people in various faculty and non-faculty posts. During the construction phase also employment will be created.
Moreover, indirect employment will be created in services like shopping centre, canteens, etc coming in the vicinity of the new campus.
