The Maharashtra Cabinet sub-committee on industries, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has approved 17 major projects valued at Rs 1.35 lakh crore.
These initiatives, spanning key sectors such as semiconductors, electric vehicles, green steel, textiles, space and defense equipment, and solar energy components, are expected to generate approx.100,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities across the state. Among the approved proposals, the largest is a greenfield gas-to-chemical project in Raigad district, to be implemented by Essar Exploration and Production.
This project alone will involve an investment of Rs 56,852 crore and is expected to create around 25,000 employment opportunities. The sub-committee is empowered to grant incentives under the package scheme of incentives and the thrust sector policy to large and mega projects. In total, 19 proposals were reviewed, and 17 received the green light. “The investments will stimulate technological innovation, research and development, and boost employment in the state,” said CM Devendra Fadnavis.
The approved projects are anticipated to enhance Maharashtra’s industrial footprint, promote sustainable development, and attract high-end technology in emerging sectors, reinforcing the state's position as a leading industrial hub in India.
