Carlsberg, the Danish brewing giant, has committed an investment of Rs 1,250 crore in India’s food processing sector, reinforcing the country as a "priority growth market."
The company signed an MoU with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) during World Food India 2025 in New Delhi. The investment includes Rs 500 crore for a new greenfield facility in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra, Rs 400 crore for brownfield expansion in Hoogly, West Bengal, and Rs 350 crore for expansion in Mysuru, Karnataka. The initiative will expand Carlsberg India’s brewing and packaging footprint, create employment opportunities, and support industries such as malt, glass, cans, cardboard, and logistics.
Over the next three years, the company expects incremental procurement worth Rs 600 crore in raw and packaging materials. Nilesh Patel, Managing Director of Carlsberg India, emphasised that these projects will enhance operational capacity, strengthen supply chains, and generate excise revenues, showcasing Carlsberg’s long-term commitment to India’s growth.
