Haryana's Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister, Shyam Singh Rana, has announced plans to set up a modern kinnow juice processing plant in Sirsa district.
The project, a collaboration between Haryana Agro Industries Corporation and Haryana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation (Vita), will operate under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The plant will have an annual capacity of 22,000 tonne, processing kinnow as well as fruits like guava and pomegranate. These products will be marketed under the Vita brand and sold at Harhith and Vita stores, ensuring better prices for farmers. This initiative is aimed at reducing post-harvest fruit wastage and boosting the horticulture sector, particularly benefiting kinnow growers.
Minister Rana emphasised that the project will strengthen the horticultural economy in the region and provide a significant boost to local farmers, stating, “This facility will create better opportunities for farmers and help reduce fruit wastage.”
