The Central government has sanctioned Rs 821 crore as special assistance to fast-track Delhi’s transformation into a ‘developed Delhi’, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on 30 July, 2025.
Under the Special Assistance to States/UTs for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme for 2025-26, 66 percent of the sanctioned funds have already been released as the first instalment, enabling the "immediate commencement" of key projects. The funds will strengthen critical public service sectors, including health, education, housing, drinking water, electricity, and transport.
Of the total allocation, Rs 716 crore is earmarked for 33 major infrastructure projects, while Rs 105 crore will support the priority corridor of MRTS Phase-IV. The approval followed a proposal submitted by the Delhi government after Chief Minister Gupta met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman earlier this month.
Launched in 2020–21 to aid post-Covid-19 economic revival, the SASCI scheme offers 50-year interest-free loans to states and UTs for capital expenditure. It aims to drive infrastructure development, generate employment, and promote sustainable growth across India, with Delhi now poised for accelerated project execution under this funding boost.
