The Central government has agreed to the Madhya Pradesh government’s demand to link Phase-I and II of Ken-Betwa River Linking project.
The detailed project reports (DPRs) will be merged before finally rolling out the project in 2018. The project will benefit the Bundelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh through irrigation, drinking water supply and hydro power. The cost will be Rs 26,651 crore after merging the two phases.
The work of combining the DPRs, merging the two phases in under preparation and draft memorandum of agreement between Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh for implementation of the project is in final stages. The combined Ken-Betwa river linking project might need fresh green clearances.
