Union Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has announced that the Central government will participate in the Hyderabad Metro Phase-II expansion, which will be developed under a joint venture between the Centre and Telangana state, with a 50:50 share.
The expansion will be executed in a public-private partnership (PPP) mode. Minister Khattar praised Telangana CM Revanth Reddy for removing obstacles to the project and assured full Central support for its development. He highlighted the growth of Metro Rail systems in India, with 24 cities now having Metro networks, a significant increase from just five cities in 2004-05.
The Union Minister also addressed the Musi Riverfront Development project, stressing that funds from the Central government and international financial institutions like the Asian Development Bank could be utilised for its completion.
