Chemfab Alkalis has successfully commissioned the latest-generation INEOS electrolyser, replacing its 30-year-old second-generation UHDE electrolyser and associated equipment.
The upgrade has been carried out with the requisite regulatory consents and is aimed at improving overall operational efficiency and performance. With the new electrolyser in place, the company expects a higher operating rate, improved reliability, and meaningful power savings from the financial year 2025–26 onwards. Despite the technology upgrade, the consented production capacity remains unchanged at 180 tonne per day. The project involved a capital expenditure of Rs 57 crore and represents a key step in modernising the company’s manufacturing infrastructure.
By adopting advanced electrolyser technology, Chemfab Alkalis aims to enhance energy efficiency, reduce operating costs, and strengthen long-term sustainability of its operations. The commissioning reflects the company’s continued focus on adopting modern technologies to improve productivity and operational resilience in a competitive chemical manufacturing environment.
