The Chhattisgarh government will establish Medicity in Nava Raipur, the upcoming capital of the state. Spanning 200 acres, the project will be developed under a commercial integrated development model through private investment, offering health facilities with a capacity of approx.5,000 beds.
Alongside multispecialty hospitals, the Medicity will feature medical colleges, hostels, diagnostic centres, dharamshalas, and hotels. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai emphasised that the Medicity would not only serve Chhattisgarh but also benefit neighbouring states, positioning the state as a hub for medical tourism. Efforts are being made to facilitate international flights from Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur to bolster its appeal to global medical tourists.
The development, overseen by the Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Development Authority, aims to elevate the region's healthcare infrastructure. The government has also proposed linking the Medicity with the Central healthcare scheme in the future.
