The Chowgule Group is expected to commission Angre port in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra, in March 2012.
Currently, marine civil works have reached final stages of completion. Besides, construction of warehouses for weather-sensitive cargo and storage facility for dry bulk is also underway. Orders have been placed for gantry cranes. The project is being executed by Chowgule Ports & Infrastructure (CPIPL) at a cost of Rs 520 crore. It will initially have capacity of about 16 million tonne. On completion, the port is looking to handle agricultural produce from western Maharashtra and nearby areas of Karnataka.
