On 05 Novemebr, 2025, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced development plans with an investment of over Rs 46,000 crore.
The projects include a new port at Bahuda in Ganjam district, a shipbuilding and repair center near Paradip, and a world-class cruise terminal in Puri. The Bahuda port, in collaboration with the Paradip Port Authority, will see Rs 21,500 crore in investments, while the shipbuilding centre at the Mahanadi river mouth will receive Rs 24,700 crore. CM Majhi emphasised that these initiatives will significantly boost the state's trade, tourism, and industrial sectors.
Paradip Port, a critical economic hub, will be expanded to handle up to 500 million tonne of cargo by 2047. These efforts align with national policies such as Sagarmala and Gati Shakti to strengthen coastal economies. The CM also inaugurated Mayfair Hotels & Resorts in Paradip as part of the ongoing developments.
