The Coastal Corporation, a Visakhapatnam-based company, is engaged in the business of processing and export of shrimps. The company exports its products across the globe in US, Europe, Canada, UAE, China and Hong Kong.

The company has chalked down expansion plans for a pre-processing unit and a greenfield processing unit with an estimated capex of around Rs 600 million at KSEZ, Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh.

In view of the lockdown in many states across the country in the backdrop of the C0VID-19 pandemic, the company had temporarily shut down its operations at both the plants in Marikavalasa and Yelamanchili units from 24 March 2020 on the directives issued by various government authorities.

However, subsequently with further directives from government authorities, the company resumed the plant operations as the company is falling within the Food Processing sector, which is considered to be amongst a few of the essential services.

Accordingly, the company has resumed its plant operations albeit at a relatively lower utilisation levels of around 40 percent on account of shortage of labour. Dormitory and lodging facilities at the plants have helped the company to resume the operations. The supply of raw-material, processing and even shipments have been normalised to a great extent.
