The construction work of the 23.5-km-long Danapur-Bihta elevated four-lane road in Bihar is likely to begin in a month. Soil testing work is being conducted by the experts of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
About 69 acres of land is required for the construction of Danapur-Bihta elevated road, and the Railways is likely to transfer its land to the state government. The total project cost including land acquisition, utility shifting and environmental management works is approx. Rs 3,131 crore.
The width of the elevated road will be 28 mtrs. There will also be an eigth-lane toll plaza on the elevated road. The proposed road will improve connectivity between Patna and the proposed Bihta international airport and further to Buxar via Bihta and Koilwar. Bypasses will be made at Neoraganj, Painal, Kanhauli and Bishanpura from the existing road between Shivala and Bihta. A link road has also been provided to reach Bihta airport from the proposed elevated road.
Two agencies have been selected for the elevated road project, which will take around two years to be completed. Ramps will be constructed at four places between Danapur and Bihta. Vehicles coming from Saguna Mor will be able to take the elevated road near Danapur railway station. Similarly, the elevated road route will be accessed near Bihta airport, at Shivala turn and near Bihta-Sarmera highway.
Also, a 600-mtrs. tunnel will be constructed at Kanhauli, and is proposed for free movement of traffic coming from Patna leading to the proposed Bihta airport.
