The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has finalised a contractor to build Delhi's first international-standard ice skating rink in Dwarka.
Spanning 4,200 sq. mtrs., the facility will feature a 60m x 30m rink adhering to global standards. Construction will commence soon on a 15-year license fee basis, with the selected agency responsible for both construction and operations through a joint venture or special purpose vehicle (JV/SPV) with international partners.
Strategically located within the Dwarka Sports Complex cloverleaf, near Urban Extension Road, Dwarka Expressway, and IGI Airport tunnel, the project aims to enhance Delhi's recreational and sports infrastructure.
Conceptualized under the guidance of Lt Governor VK Saxena, the rink addresses the city's lack of specialised ice sports facilities and will offer a climate-controlled indoor venue for year-round use. This announcement follows DDA's recent move to introduce public hot air balloon rides from four locations in Delhi, further expanding unique recreational opportunities in the capital.
