Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), has given a final approval for construction of the inter-state metro rail link connecting Raipur and Durg in Chhattisgarh.
DMRC has completed the feasibility study and has recommended a detailed project report (DPR). The cost of the entire project is estimated to be worth Rs 20,000 crore. The project will be implemented in three phases.
The first phase of the project from Telibandha in Raipur to Poolgaon in Durg, a 45 km stretch with 20 stations, will cost an estimated Rs 6,000 crore. Work on Phase-I will commence once the Chhattisgarh government approves the DPR. Phase-II of the metro rail project will include the link between Durg and Rajnandgaon, and Phase-III will connect the old and Naya Raipur.
The project is expected to be completed by 2021.
