The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has received 13 new applications under the production linked incentive (PLI) scheme for white goods, committing a total of Rs 1,914 crore in investments.
These applications, which span across six states, are focused on manufacturing components for air conditioners and LED lights. Among the applicants, nine companies plan to invest Rs 1,816 crore in producing air conditioner components such as compressors, motors, and heat exchangers. Additionally, four applicants have proposed investments totalling Rs 98 crore for LED component manufacturing, including LED chips and drivers.
Since its launch in April 2021, the PLI scheme for white goods has attracted over Rs 10,000 crore in investment, aiming to boost domestic manufacturing and create nearly 60,000 direct employment. The scheme is designed to establish India as a global hub for air conditioner and LED light component manufacturing.
