Jabil, a US-based multinational corporation supplying electronic components to companies like Apple and Cisco, is set to establish a Rs 2,000 crore electronics manufacturing unit in the SIPCOT industrial park near Manapparai, Tiruchi.
The company intends to acquire around 70 acres of land for its new plant, expected to generate employment for about 5,000 people. The project follows a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Jabil and the Tamil Nadu State government during Chief Minister MK Stalin's visit to the US in September 2024. After a visit to the industrial park, officials were apprised of its infrastructure, and as such, the location of the park, its connectivity, including easy access to ports and availability of amenities, were key factors in the decision.
This investment will be the first major MNC venture in the SIPCOT park and is expected to be finalized with a land allotment agreement in February 2026.
