Kochi Metro Rail (KMRL) has initiated the preparation of the detailed project report (DPR) for the Phase-III extension of the Kochi Metro, which will connect Aluva to Angamaly via Kochi airport.
Systra MVA Consulting India has started conducting soil testing and topographic surveys for the 17.5 km stretch. The DPR contract, worth Rs 1.3 crore, was awarded to the Haryana-based firm in April, with the submission due in six months. The proposed route will include an elevated track with a section underground, and KMRL will seek public feedback to ensure the project meets community expectations.
KMRL MD Loknath Behera emphasised the importance of community involvement before finalizing the DPR. "We will seek public suggestions and ideas to ensure development that meets community expectations," said KMRL Managing Director Loknath Behera.
