Daikin, the Japanese air-conditioner manufacturer, has partnered with EY to set up a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Gurugram, named the Daikin Innovation and Services Hub.
This new facility will focus on enhancing capabilities in information technology, digital services, data management, finance, and artificial intelligence (AI). The centre is expected to employ around 700 professionals. A senior Daikin official emphasised that this initiative is not merely a cost-reduction strategy but a deliberate effort to build critical capabilities in India.
“Success of this project will pave the way for more such centres in India. There is a shift in the mindset of the parent company which led to this opening of the GCC and also due to India’s talent pool. The Indian business will play a bigger role for the parent company,” the official said. India, a key market for Daikin, reported Rs 12,500 crore revenue in 2024-25. The company is also expanding manufacturing in India, including compressor production and setting up an export-oriented plant in Sri City. Daikin exports to Africa, South America, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Bhutan.
