Dassault Reliance Aerospace (DRAL), a joint venture between Reliance Aerostructure (RAL) and Dassault Aviation, France, has been incorporated.
Chairman of Dassault Aviation France, Eric Trappier will be the chairman of DRAL, while the chairman of Reliance Group, Anil Ambani will be the co-chairman. RAL will hold 51 percent stakes in the JV, while Dassault Aviation will hold 49 percent.
On 23 September, 2016, India and France inked a purchase agreement to supply 36 Rafale fighter jets at a value of EUR 7.87 billion, or around Rs 60,000 crore.
DRAL will execute the offset obligations of 50 percent of the agreement of around Rs 30,000 crore. The agreement is the largest offset contract in Indian history.
DRAL has finalised the infrastructure requirements at Dhirubhai Aerospace Park at Mihan, in Nagpur, and construction work on the greenfield facility will commence in May 2017. Production will begin by 2017 end.
