The modernisation of the Dibrugarh Airport at Mohanbari in Assam is to see
the light of day as the Indian Air Force has approved the project.
The airport is likely to have a longer runway to enable operation of larger
and heavier aircraft. Presently, the airport has a 7,500 ft runway which is to
be made 9,000 ft long by February 2011. Work on lengthening the runway is likely
to commence in October 2010.
The airport will also be equipped with modern night landing facilities, two
aerobridges and a cargo terminal.
