The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has accorded environmental clearance (EC) to Reliance Industries (RIL) proposed expansion of petrochemical complex in Maharashtra.

The project involves expansion and debottlenecking of petrochemical complex by RIL at Nagothane Manufacturing Division, MIDC, Roha tehsil, Raigad district, Maharashtra. The project was accorded EC on 2 May 2018.

The existing land area is 744 ha, of which greenbelt is developed in 298 ha. No additional land will be required for development of the proposed project. The cost of the project is Rs 2,338 crore.

The products proposed for expansion involve Ethylene from the existing 4,00,000 tpa to proposed 5,80,000 tpa, Propylene from the existing 90,000 tpa to proposed 1,30,000 tpa, and Ethylene GIycol from the existing 70,000 to proposed 2,00,000 tpa, among others.

The existing manpower is around 1,794 and no additional manpower is required.

The power requirement for the project will be be met from existing CPP. The CPP capacity will be raised from 85 MW to 100 MW.
