ESL Steel has announced a new agreement with Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) to supply piped natural gas to its Bokaro steel plant, signalling a forward step toward cleaner and more dependable industrial energy use.
The collaboration was formalised in the presence of senior leaders from both organisations, including IOCL’s Manoj K Sharma and K Sharma and Amiya Kumar Behera, along with ESL Steel Deputy CEO Ravish Sharma. The transition to PNG, meant for select plant applications, is expected to strengthen reliability and safety while contributing to ESL Steel’s broader sustainability goals.
The company emphasises that adopting PNG will support more streamlined operations and reflect its commitment to long-term environmental stewardship. Highlighting the importance of the move, Sharma said, “Our partnership with IOCL represents a sustainable move to ensure a reliable and efficient energy supply for critical plant operations,” underscoring the company’s shift from LPG to a more environmentally responsible fuel.
