The East–West Metro Corridor, part of Phase 1B of the Lucknow Metro project, is set to move forward with crucial land clearances in Old Lucknow.
The 11.2-km stretch, connecting Charbagh to Vasant Kunj, will navigate through space-constrained neighborhoods. Authorities plan to begin construction in February 2026, despite challenges posed by narrow streets and dense traffic. The project will integrate advanced construction methods, including tunnel boring machines for underground work, and compact stations suited for Lucknow’s population density.
A senior Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRCL) official explained, “We are engineering not just around structures, but around people’s lived realities.” The project aims to reshape local transit while minimising disruption to the community.
