Kolkata’s Science City i confrenec Kolkata’s Science City is set to get a modular exposition-cum-conference facility, poised to become the largest indoor meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) venue in Eastern India.

The project, costing around Rs 200–250 crore, will accommodate over 5,000 attendees, and together with existing auditoriums, will increase capacity to 8,000, surpassing the current largest venue, Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, which holds 4,000. Science City’s main auditorium seats 2,232 with a 100-performer stage, and an adjoining mini-auditorium accommodates 400. The new modular facility will allow flexible event setups, supporting large conventions or multiple smaller events, aiming for year-round utilisation.

The proposed three lakh sq. ft. space, along with expanded parking from 500 to 1,000 vehicles, is expected to attract national and international events. This development will enhance Kolkata’s MICE profile, increase footfall, and generate funds for Science City’s upkeep and modernisation, supporting its annual requirement of around Rs 20 crore.
