On November 13, 2024, Electric Traction was introduced for goods train movement at the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) Steel's Nagarnar Railway siding near Jagdalpur, on the Kottavalasa Kirandul (KK) line.

The initiative aims to enhance freight mobility, improve the speed of turnarounds, and enable more efficient transportation of raw materials and finished goods. This supports the scaling up of production at the Nagarnar Steel Plant, which began operations in October 2023. 

The commissioning of the 25 kV AC overhead power supply and associated infrastructure was carried out by key officials, including Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair Division, Saurabh Prasad, and Executive Director of NMDC Steel, K. Praveen Kumar.

This will also lead to more rakes of raw materials and finished goods by Railways for scaling up production at the steel plant. Plans are there to improve rail connectivity, increase crew, and train safety examiners in the Jagdalpur area to streamline operations and further boost steel coil production at the plant.
