The Vijayawada-Eluru project on
NH-5 covering a length of 72 km was commissioned in July 2002. The project
involved strengthening and widening of the existing 72 km, two-lane road into
four-lanes. The investment involved was Rs.335 crore.
The Eluru-Vijayawada KM.75-KM.3.4,
which was executed by the Madhucon-Binapuri joint venture, was funded by Asian
Development Bank. Kampsax Hyder was the consultant for the project.
It may be mentioned that the 18 km Eluru bypass (part of the
Vijaywada-Eluru project) on Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam section, was commissioned
in December 2001 at a cost Rs.95 crore.
