Pune-based Emcure Pharmaceuticals has inaugurated its formulation research and development centre in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, which would enable breakthroughs in complex drug delivery systems.

The new Emcure Research Centre will house about 350 skilled professionals who will work towards developing novel formulations, enhancing drug bioavailability and creating patient-centric delivery solutions. Among the five R&D facilities, three are focused on formulations research, one facility focused on API research and one facility on biopharmaceuticals research.

The company operates around 13 manufacturing facilities in the country of which the units at Jammu, Sikkim and Bengaluru serve the domestic market.

"We have a facility for injectitables in Sanand (near Ahmedabad) from where we export to Europe, US and emerging markets. We have a facility for tablets at Kadu near Surendranagar which is also focussed on exports. We have a third facility for tablets and injectables at Mehsana which serves both the export and domestic markets. This facility exports to Europe, Canada and emerging markets,” Founder and CEO of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, Satish Mehta said.
