The Empee Group plans to set up a 120-room hotel in Chennai. The new hotel is
to come up at the site where it now has the Grand Orient, a 60-room business
class hotel, on the arterial Anna Salai.
The Group has submitted the papers for planning permission approval for the
proposed hotel as 30,000 sq ft of land has been acquired.
Work on Empee’s 250-room hotel to be operated by Hilton, is progressing well
and Empee hopes to commence operations by December 2009. Meanwhile, the company
plans to put on hold a 100-room hotel to come up in Sriperumbudur and a 400-key
hotel to be set up at Whitefield, near Bangalore.
