Essar Future Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat government to establish a large-scale bio-fuel complex in Devbhumi Dwarka district.
The proposed project, with an investment of Rs 5,100 crore, aims to process one million tonne of feedstock per annum and is expected to create around 350 direct work roles. Operations are targeted to begin by 2029. This initiative is part of Essar’s broader efforts to decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors, including aviation, shipping, and road transport, by offering clean fuel solutions.
The bio-fuel complex will be developed as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) unit and aligns with Gujarat's vision of building a green energy ecosystem for energy independence. Vibhav Agarwal, CEO of Essar Future Energy, stated, "Gujarat continues to lead India's journey in industrial growth and energy transition, and we are partnering with the state to develop low-carbon energy solutions."
