Essar Oil is likely to lay a 160-km pipeline from Durgapur to Kolkata in West
Bengal to transport gas from its CBM blocks to consumers in the state. The
company is likely to form a SPV for the purpose.
The company has reportedly applied to the Petroleum and Natural Gas
Regulatory Board seeking permission for laying a 24-inch pipeline from Durgapur.
The proposed pipeline is likely to pass along the National Highway-2 from
Durgapur industrial area to Kolkata.
Essar is likely to begin gas production from its Raniganj block in West
Bengal soon. Initial output is likely to be 9,000-10,000 cubic mtrs per day with
peak production of 3.5 mmscmd envisaged in June 2013. Peak output is expected to
last for 20 years.
