Ultra Gas & Energy (UGEL), a subsidiary of the Essar Group, will invest Rs 900 crore to expand its liquefied natural gas (LNG) retail network to 100 outlets across India, supporting the country’s clean fuel transition in long-haul transport.
Currently operating six stations in states like Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, UGEL is focusing on industrial and logistics hubs to ensure reliable LNG access. The stations, designed as multi-fuel hubs, also feature electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. Each outlet can dispense up to 50 tonne of LNG monthly, refuelling around 600 trucks and reducing carbon emissions by approx. 66,000 tonne annually.
UGEL has partnered with key suppliers—IOCL, GAIL, and HPCL, to ensure continuous access to LNG terminals. Expansion is underway in 10-plus states, including Odisha, Punjab, and Jharkhand. The company aims to play a key role in decarbonising logistics, promoting sustainable mobility, and transitioning India’s commercial fleets from diesel to LNG.
