Ester Industries, a leading polyester films and specialty polymers manufacturer, joint venture with Loop Industries—Ester Loop Infinite Technologies (ELITe)—has secured land near Surat, Gujarat, to establish India’s first Infinite Loop manufacturing plant.
The Seller Group has agreed to transfer the identified parcels of land for the project, valued at approx. Rs 1,600 crore, paving the way for a greenfield chemical recycling plant. Strategically located within the Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR), the site provides access to abundant polyester textile waste, a skilled petrochemical workforce, and logistical advantages including proximity to a deep-water seaport.
The planned facility will recycle polyester textile waste into virgin-quality polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin, advancing circular economy goals in polyester. With an initial annual capacity of 70,000 tonne, expandable by another 1,00,000 tonne, the plant aims to achieve up to 80 percent carbon emission reductions versus conventional PET. Designed to operate on nearly 80 percent renewable electricity and biofuels, it represents a milestone in sustainable plastics manufacturing.
