The feasibility study for the proposed metro rail transit system (MRTS) in
Jaipur, Rajasthan has begun on 3 June 2009 with a travel demand survey initiated
from the Walled City area.
The Urban Development and Housing Department, Jaipur which has shown a
renewed interest in the project has asked DMRC to prepare a feasibility study.
The corporation has outsourced the survey work to a US-based consultancy.
The previous studies on a suitable MRTS for the city have not been favourable
for the metro train project.
