German automation technology leader Festo has inaugurated a manufacturing plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, with an investment of Rs 500 crore. This facility, spanning over 75 acres, will specialise in producing advanced pneumatic automation components for domestic and global markets.
The plant is expected to generate over 1,000 direct and indirect employment, with future plans for expansion in both capacity and workforce. Marking the company’s centenary, Thomas Böck, Chairman of the Management Board, said, “We are immensely proud to celebrate 100 years of Festo by reinforcing our commitment to India through this new facility.”
The company emphasised its “local for local” strategy, aiming to boost regionalisation, shorten supply chains, and minimise emissions by enhancing global R&D, logistics, and production infrastructure. Festo had earlier committed Rs 520 crore during the Global Investors Meet 2024 in Tamil Nadu to set up this greenfield facility in Krishnagiri district, aiming to create over 2,000 employment opportunities.
